Sardinia, Emerald Coast

Choose Sardinia for Your Unique Yachting Experience

Sardinia (Italian: Sardegna, Sardinian: Sardìgna/Sardìnnia) is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, after Sicily. It is an autonomous region of Italy, located in the Western Mediterranean. Its capital and largest city is Cagliari.

To the west of Sardinia is the Sea of Sardinia, and to the east is the Tyrrhenian Sea, both units of the Mediterranean Sea. The coasts of Sardinia which strech for 1850 kilometres are mostly high and rocky, making it a stunning yachting adventure, with long stretches of coastline, wide, deep bays, rias, inlets and various smaller islands off the coast. A number of large, shallow, salt-water lagoons and pools are located along the coastline.

Sardinia is well known for its linguistic diversity - the indigenous Sardinian language and the other minority languages such as Sassarese, Corsican Gallurese, Algherese Catalan and Ligurian Tabarchino are all spoken on the island.

Charter a Motor Yacht, Sailing Boat or Catamaran in Sardinia

About 40 tourist harbours and marinas are located alongside the Sardinian coasts. The most popular Sardinian yachting seaports where you can charter a boat are Cagliari, Olbia, Carloforte, as well as other ports and marinas - Sassari, Iglesias, Carbonia, Tempio, Alghero, Nuoro, Oristano and Porto Torres.

Annually the island hosts the Loro Piana Super Yacht Regatta and the Maxy Yacht Rolex Cup. Cagliari hosts regularly international regattas, such RC44 championship, Farr 40 World championship and Audi MedCup.

Spot Some Rare Animal Species While Sailing Around Sardinia

From the deck of your boat, you can catch sight of some rare or uncommon animals, which find their home in Sardinia, such as the Mediterranean monk seal, Sarcidano horse, Giara horse, albino donkey, Sardinian feral cat, mouflon, Sardinian long-eared bat, Sardinian deer, fallow deer...

There are also endemic species of amphibians, found only in Sardinia: Sardinian brook salamander, brown cave salamander, imperial cave salamander, Monte Albo cave salamander, Supramonte cave salamander and Sarrabus cave salamander, as well as rare reptiles - Bedriaga's rock lizard, the Tyrrhenian wall lizard and Fitzinger's algyroides. The endemic Sardinian Nuragic spider, new arachnid species, has been recently found.

Sardinia has four endemic subspecies of birds found nowhere else in the world: its great spotted woodpecker, great tit, common chaffinch, and Eurasian jay. Hire a yacht in Sardinia and explore hundreds of lagoons and coastal lakes that are home for many species of wading birds, such as the greater flamingo.

Discover the unforgetable sailing experience around Sardinia and enjoy your wonderful Yachting Vacations!
